In conjunction with its 65th anniversary, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Malaya is proud to collaborate with the South and Southeast Asian Association for the Study of Culture and Religion (SSEASR) to organize and host the 10th SSEASR conference entitled “Sustainability in Cultural and Religious Traditions in South and Southeast Asia” to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The conference is also a regional conference of the International Association for the History of Religions (IAHR), Member of CIPSH under the auspices of UNESCO.
South and Southeast Asia is home to numerous cultures and religious traditions that have evolved from the various instrumental and intellectual practices of the dwellers for thousands of years.
Through this conference scholars and students will explore diverse and distinct cultural practices in all its domains, varieties and attributes, trace the changes and development over time and ascertain the historical link between past and present cultures.
The conference will also bring to light recent global methodological trends for academic study of religion to achieve sustainable development goals of the 21st century.
Purpose of the 10th SSEASR conference is to encourage world academia to initiate the academic dialogue on the subject in order to better understand, relate, interpret and examine uncountable traditions and practices of the South and Southeast Asian communities
